2020 has been quite a wild ride, hasn’t it?  In the midst of a Global Pandemic, many of us are now working from home, while home schooling or helping our kids with remote learning.  We are making all sorts of wild and abrupt changes to our daily routines, and tending to the needs of everyone but ourselves?  Out of all of the chaos, I needed a project that was just for me, and thus the Treat Yourself Toque was born.

This fun double-brim hat design combines some simple black & white color-work with a bold color of your choice, resulting in a snug beanie that will keep you warm all winter long.

Speaking of the yarn, I used my own hand dyed yarns from the Fall Collection at Dover Street Supply Co.  All of the details on yardage and colors used can be found in the free PDF download, below.

This pattern requires some focus, but is a great pattern for an advanced beginner to intermediate knitter who has the fundamentals of knitting down, and is ready to try some colorwork.  Since the colorwork portion of this toque is only a 2-color pattern, it has all the flavor of colorwork without having to manage too many strands.  The pattern for the brim is provided in both graph form, and written form.

Tags shown in some of the photos are from Dutch Label Shop – check them out if you want some finishing touches to add to your handmade pieces.

The Treat Yourself Toque was knit using my favorite interchangeable knitting needles from KnitPicks!
